About Me
Hello, my name is Maya, and I’ve been fascinated by the written word for as long as I can remember. During my childhood, it wasn’t unusual to find me with my nose in a Narnia or Neil Gaiman book, or writing my own stories about plucky preteens impractically tasked with saving the world. Cut to the present, and I’m still a huge geek and an avid reader of sci-fi and fantasy novels, comics, and webcomics.
Creativity is at the heart of all my deepest passions. I’m also a university-educated composer, with a detailed knowledge of music theory, and a keen digital artist.
I went into proofreading because: (a) it plays so well into my love of reading and (b) I get to help other creators put the best version of their work out into the world. After training to proofread in the US style (see my certification below), I applied these techniques to my native British English so that I can proofread on both sides of the pond.
